Introduction to part 1 • writing

During the first lecture of the course, we discussed the outline of the course, what you can expect, why we do what we do. In addition, we discussed our expectations regarding the peer review process when you’ll be working in the groups, which includes the type of feedback you should give each other, the inclusion of cover letters, etc. In addition, you will find an additional reference to a topic we briefly touched upon, which is Rhetorical Analysis – the primary component of our dealing with the different sections of the article. You will find the slides attached below. The introduction lecture provides an overview of the course. We will primarily explain how the course works, what the outcomes are of the course, how we approach learning and teaching, and what you’ll need to do to get the most out of the learning.

Peer Feedback Description

In the peer feedback process, you play two distinct and separate roles. As a reviewer, you give written feedback to your group members based upon their cover letter and draft. As an author, you receive written feedback from your group members based upon your cover letter and draft. Being able to write more effective cover letters and feedback comments will benefit everyone (and especially your own writing process!) within your group. The aim of this workshop is to enable you to understand your feedback and writing processes better. This is achieved by guided reflection upon the ‘usefulness’ of your written and received feedback comments and cover letters.
