It’s that time of year again to join the 3MT challenge!
Coimbra Group Three-Minute Thesis Competition
Preliminary round at the University of Tartu
Take part in the English three-minute thesis competition on 18 March, 2022. The preliminary round for the international Coimbra Group 3-Minute Thesis Competition is held at the University of Tartu. We invite doctoral students to participate and introduce their research in the form of a captivating three-minute presentation in English. The winner will represent the University of Tartu at the competition organised by the international university network Coimbra Group. A video recording of the winner’s presentation will be sent to represent the UT in the international competition.
See for further information and conditions for participation. Register to the filming of your 3MT video here. Registration is open until 13 March, 2022.
Doctoral students are welcome to a crash course on research communication on 11 March. The main focus is on Three Minute Thesis (3MT) presentations, but participants will also get other tips on research communication.
Can you make a clear and captivating summary of the essence of your research in just 180 seconds?
Imagine that this is about one page of text from the grant proposal that must convince a funder outside your field of research that your research project will solve an important societal challenge in a new and better way.
The course on 11 March will allow you to work on that skill and learn from practitioners’ experiences. Speakers include the UT Research Fellow in Ecotoxicology and a dedicated research communicator Randel Kreitsberg, freelance journalist Marian Männi, who helps the stories of Estonian research reach international audiences, and the UT Startup Lab Manager Maret Ahonen, who teaches young people interested in entrepreneurship how to communicate their big ideas interestingly and engagingly in three minutes.
Register to the crash course here. Registration is open until 3 March.
